Users' Advisory Group (UAG) - Terms of Reference:
Approved by Users. Advisory Group: 27 June 2002

Purpose:

The Users' Advisory Group will provide advice to the Scientific Committee on users needs for MAGS-2 research, critically assess results of MAGS-2 from a users perspective, assist in identifying funding sources for the Network including areas for collaboration, representing a broad spectrum of users within the study area, and serving as a link between the Scientific Committee and the public.

The Users' Advisory Group will be represented by users of MAGS-2 information and research results.

The Network Manager serves as secretary to this Group.

Chair - Users' Advisory Group:

Chair meetings of the Users. Advisory Group;

liase with partners and users to assist MAGS-2 achieve its goals;

promote MAGS-2 amongst a wide group of potential users of MAGS-2 research; and

represent the Users. Advisory Group on the Management Board.

Meetings/teleconferences of the Users' Advisory Group will be held at least twice a year.

Users. Advisory Group:

Review proposals and results of research and provide critical evaluations to the Scientific Committee;
identify areas of research or integration of MAGS-1 efforts to fulfil mandate of MAGS-2;
identify other potential, specific users and solicit their advice on MAGS-2 research;
develop communication linkages between specific users and research scientists; and
assist the Network Manager in developing outreach programs.
