2015 AGU Fall Meeting - Session on the diagnosis of change

We are convening a session at this year's Fall AGU Meeting, focussing on improving the understanding and diagnosis of Earth system changes in cold regions.  The deadline for abstract submission is August 5.  Further details are below.  To submit an abstract, please go to https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session8196.

Session Title: Improving the understanding and diagnosis of Earth system changes in cold regions

Session ID: 8196

Session Description: Over the past several decades there have been major changes to many Earth system components in mountain and high-latitude cold regions, including climate, hydrology, cryosphere, and terrestrial ecology. The response to climatic drivers has varied and is complicated by linkages and feedbacks among system components, operating across multiple time- and space-scales. This session invites submissions that address the analysis, modelling, and diagnosis of change in one or more these cold region Earth system components. Relevant science questions to be addressed include: 1) how have interacting Earth system processes changed in response to changing climate; 2) how can process-based models be improved and applied to better diagnose for key factors governing change; and 3) what are the interactions amongst climatic, hydrological, ecological, and cryospheric drivers, processes and feedbacks, and thresholds leading to system changes?
