DRI Legacy

DRI endeavoured to provide tangible outcomes of its 5 year research effort to the broader scientific community and general public. This intention was addressed through focusing on several intiatives during the wind down of the network.

These efforts are listed below:

  • Abstract
  • This dataset comprises Doppler radar information from 8 radars (Schuler, Carvel, Foxwarren, Jimmy Lake, Radisson, Spirit River, Strathmore, Woodlands) of the Canadian Radar Network that covers the Prairies region. These Doppler radars scan 24 elevations in conventional reflectivity (0.3o to 24.7o) and 4 Doppler elevations (0.3o to 1.5o) every 10 minutes. The data has a 1 km (256 km range) and 0.5 km (113 km range) range resolution for conventional scans and Doppler scans, respectively. More information about the Canadian Doppler radar network can be found at http://www.msc-smc.ec.gc.ca/projects/nrp. The 1999-2005 period was when many of the radars were coming online therefore data for all stations does not completely span 1999-2005. Data is stored in IRIS a binary
